Six Midlife Depression Symptoms That May Signal Dementia Risk Later

One of the things my clients are consistently worried about is developing dementia. A December 2025 study by Frank, published in The Lancet Psychiatry, followed nearly 6,000 adults for 23 years and found that six specific midlife depressive symptoms—loss of confidence, difficulty facing problems, reduced warmth or affection toward others, persistent nervousness, dissatisfaction with task performance, and concentration difficulties.
