Product of Gut Microbiome Implicated in Heart Failure Risk

In this study of over 4000 people, elevated levels of phenylacetylglutamine (PAG), a byproduct created when microbes in the gut break down dietary protein, were linked to increased heart failure risk and severity. I find the growing data on the importance of a healthy gut microbiome to be fascinating.
