Older adults with a new traumatic brain injury (TBI) may face faster cognitive decline and greater support needs. Falls and subsequent access to services shape outcomes after a traumatic brain injury, especially for older women.


This October 2025 article by Huang, published in CMAJ, analyzed 132,113 matched pairs in Ontario and found higher rates of new dementia after late-life TBI, increased home care use, and greater long-term care admission.
