Processed Red Meat and Dementia: A Risky Connection

A new study by Yanping Li published in Neurology suggests that consuming more than a quarter serving of processed red meat daily—such as bacon, hot dogs, and bologna—is linked to a 13% higher risk of developing dementia compared to lower intake levels. However, replacing processed red meat with healthier alternatives is associated with a reduced risk of dementia—by 28% with fish, 19% with nuts, and 16% with chicken.


We all know that what we eat makes a difference. And while bacon is delicious, cutting back on processed red meat is a simple way to reduce your dementia risk.
