Exercise continues to outperform many things marketed as longevity breakthroughs. It’s a reminder that one of the most powerful tools for healthy aging is still remarkably low-tech. No biohacking gadget, subscription, or injectable required.
This April 2026 study by Meernik, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) followed nearly 25,000 adults and found that better fitness in midlife was linked to a longer, healthier life. Participants with higher fitness levels developed chronic illnesses later, accumulated fewer health problems, and gained about 2 additional healthy years.
The good news is that the prescription is simple. The better news is that it works.
