Lavender tea isn’t flashy or high-tech, but it may help ease the daily emotional strain caused by sound sensitivity, known as misophonia. People with misophonia experience intense emotions such as irritation, anxiety, or anger in response to everyday noises like chewing, tapping, or breathing.

A February 2026 study by Gokbel, published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, found that participants who drank lavender herbal tea twice daily for 14 days experienced statistically significant reductions in sound sensitivity, along with lower levels of anxiety, depression, and anger compared to a control group.
