Many of the people that I know with ADHD have a difficult time getting to sleep at night. This pattern often looks less like “bad sleep habits” and more like a body clock that’s running late.

A December 2025 study by Luu, published in Frontiers in Psychiatry, indicates that there is a group of people with ADHD who have difficulty with their circadian rhythm. Increasing evidence suggests an issue with the melatonin-cortisol cycle. They may benefit from intense bright light in the morning, melatonin at night, and exercise.
