Nearly every one of my clients who are in Medicare Advantage plans instead of traditional Medicare plus a supplement has regretted having a Medicare Advantage Plan. Typically, they want to see a specialist outside the network, or find that rehab stays or equipment benefits are severely limited. For some, when they try to switch to traditional Medicare, they can’t switch because they can’t get a supplement now that they are sick.
This February 2026 article by Herman, published in STAT, reports that Medicare Advantage enrollment reached 35.5 million people this year — up about 3% from 2025 — but far slower than the 7–10% annual growth seen in recent years.
