We often talk about medication or lifestyle as if we have to pick a team. Apparently, the body prefers a group project.

This April 2026 study by Nguyen, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, looked at nearly 100,000 adults with type 2 diabetes. Researchers found that GLP-1 medications and healthy lifestyle habits were each linked to lower heart risk, but the combination had the strongest effect. Those using GLP-1s while following six to eight healthy habits had a 43% lower risk of major cardiovascular events than those with fewer healthy habits and no GLP-1 use.
