My goal as a medical navigator and patient advocate is to help people with complicated healthcare problems get the best care possible.
Our rehabilitation system for people with severe injuries such as traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury now provides very short lengths of stay in an inpatient acute rehabilitation facility. As a result, people go too early to sub-acute rehab in a nursing home, where there is a very different level of expertise and equipment.
